Pipe Testing Systems

This Ultrasonic Inspection System is installed in a pipe manufacturing facility. It was built and installed by RELIANT to inspect the ERW weld seam on pipe up to 24" in diameter and .750" in wall thickness. Six (6) transducers are installed in individual "bubbler" type shoes which ride the upper pipe surface as the pipe moves down a conveyor line. An off-line calibration stand, and manual as well as automated system controls, are provided. The ultrasonic electronics are housed in a cabinet located in the adjacent operator control building. A water deaeriation system is also included to remove air from the ultrasonic couplant water prior inspection use.

A Full Body Ultrasonic Inspection System for inspection of pipe up to 16" in diameter and 60 feet long is manufactured by RELIANT for detection of multi-oriented flaws and wall thickness measurement. The system rotates the pipe up to 250 RPM while the test head transverses the pipe length at a speed of 1" per each pipe revolution. Twenty (20) channels of P.C. based ultrasonic electronics are provided.

The system includes all pipe handling equipment and an operator's building. All system functions are automated and a state-of-the-art data acquisition system is provided, which includes various graphical presentations and report formats.
The entire system operates on electrical and pneumatic power and is controlled by a P.C. based controller in a networked configuration.
