Tubing Testing Systems

A Tubing Inspection System manufactured by RELIANT inspects tubing as it transverses in a powered conveyor line. The system contains four (4) ultrasonic channels and a test head which floats with the tubing surface. Weld tracking is obtained with a laser pointer and an operator controlled joy stick in order to maintain proper weld positioning.

An off-line calibration stand is provided where short tubing samples containing reference reflectors are used to adjust inspection sensitivity.

Tubing pinch rolls are provided in the conveyor, both in front of and behind the test head, in order to stabilize the tubing for inspection.


The RELIANT Ultrasonic Weld Area Inspection System is designed to inspect for flaws on tubing sizes from 1.9" to 3.5". It is located, in the mill line, in a small area between the welder and the seam annealer. A flaw paint spray system identifies all flaw areas that exceed the preset alarm threshold level. The technician is viewing the electronics cabinet installed adjacent to the mill line.

RELIANT inspection systems are designed to be very rugged and easy to maintain and operate, while also very quick and simple to calibrate and changeover from one pipe size and wall thickness to the next.
